Stephane Theuriau was named managing partner at BC Partners Real Estate, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Theuriau will establish a new team that will focus on pan-European opportunistic investments covering all real estate sectors.
"The launch of BC Partners Real Estate is an important step in the evolution of the firm ... (Mr. Theuriau) is a seasoned real estate investor, with a 25-year successful track record across Europe," Raymond Svider, managing partner at BC Partners, said in a news release.
BC Partners has €17 billion ($20.3. billion) in assets under management. The new real estate platform will sit alongside both BC Partners' long-standing private equity buyout business and its opportunistic credit platform.
Mr. Theuriau was formerly a CEO at Altarea Cogedim, a French real estate development and investment company. A spokeswoman could not be reached by press time to provide details of his replacement.
