Stephen Thariyan was named co-head of developed markets at BlueBay Asset Management, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. Thariyan focuses on developed markets and growing BlueBay's corporate credit strategies across investment-grade, leveraged finance and convertible bonds. "(Mr. Thariyan) is a highly experienced credit investor with a proven ability to lead a global team and generate strong investment returns. His experience will complement (Mr. Dowding's) strong macro and sovereign expertise and, together, I believe they will continue to enhance our developed markets footprint," said Raphael Robelin, chief investment officer, in a news release.
Mr. Thariyan was global head of credit for the last 10 years at Henderson Global Investors and what became Janus Henderson Investors in 2017 and what became Janus Henderson Investors. A spokesman said Mr. Thariyan was not replaced "but his departure from the firm did coincide with Jim Cielinski being hired as global head of fixed income from Columbia Threadneedle (Investments)."
