Macquarie Investment Management was honored by Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey as a corporate champion for its funding and volunteer efforts benefiting the charity.
Among the events Macquarie sponsored was a career exploration day at its global headquarters in Philadelphia, a Macquarie spokeswoman said. Girls shadowed employees and participated in educational sessions on money management led by senior managers, including Shawn Lytle, deputy global head and president of Delaware Funds by Macquarie; Kelley McKee, portfolio manager of the small-cap value equity team; and Stuart George, senior vice president and head of equity trading.
Also, the firm sponsored the annual Macquarie Investment Management Golf Charity Classic, which in 2017 raised more than $100,000 for Girls Inc., which provides mentoring and career-building activities for some 2,400 girls in Philadelphia and Camden, N.J.
"At Macquarie, we want to ensure that children in Philadelphia, regardless of their race, gender or socioeconomic status, have access to great programs that expand their minds and encourage participation beyond the classroom," Mr. Lytle said at a May 2 awards breakfast in Philadelphia. "We are proud to support Girls Inc. in its mission to deliver life-changing experiences to the girls of our region that will help develop them into future leaders."
