Sue Thompson was named head of Americas distribution for State Street Global Advisors' SPDR exchange-traded funds business, spokesman Andrew Hopkins in an email.
The position is new. Effective immediately, Ms. Thompson will be responsible for developing and overseeing the SPDR ETF distribution strategy in the Americas. She will be based in Boston and report to Rory Tobin, global head of SPDR ETFs.
The SPDR ETF business manages more than $629 billion in assets.
Ms. Thompson was president and CEO of her own consulting firm, Thompson Peak Advisory. No one from the firm could be reached, and the firm's website is no longer functional.
SSGA had $2.73 trillion in assets under management as of March 31.
