James Keenan, managing director at BlackRock, was named head of the firm's capital investment group, spokeswoman Tara McDonnell confirmed. He replaces Michael Zugay, who has decided to leave the company for personal reasons.
Mr. Keenan will oversee BlackRock Capital Investment Corp., a business development company that lends to middle-market firms.
Mr. Keenan is chief investment officer and global co-head for BlackRock global credit. He will remain in this role on an interim basis while the company seeks a permanent replacement.
BlackRock had $6.317 trillion in assets under management as of March 31.
