Dale Burgess was named senior managing director, infrastructure and natural resources, at the C$189.5 billion ($147.6 billion) Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan, Toronto, effective Tuesday.
He replaces Andrew Claerhout, who left Ontario Teachers in February, said an OTPP spokesman. His plans could not be learned.
Mr. Burgess had been interim head of infrastructure and natural resources since Mr. Claerhout's departure.
Mr. Burgess was managing director, Latin America, at the pension fund. He will retain those duties while OTPP searches for his replacement, the spokesman said.
Ontario Teachers had 18.7% of its assets in infrastructure and 6.6% in natural resources, both as of Dec. 31, according to the plan's website.
