Mercer appoints CIO for the U.K.

Joanne "Jo" Holden was named U.K. chief investment officer at Mercer, effective immediately, said a spokeswoman.

Ms. Holden replaces Steven Blackie, who joined Aviva Investors as head of global product strategy.

Ms. Holden is responsible for leading the firm's investment consulting offering in the U.K. She is based in Liverpool, England. She joins the U.K. defined benefit leadership team and works closely with Jenny Condron, chief actuarial officer.

Ms. Holden was previously U.K. head of public sector and her responsibilities will be filled by senior consultants on the public-sector team, the spokeswoman said.
