David Gibson was named a managing director at Lazard Asset Management, spokeswoman Hillary Yaffe confirmed.
The position is new. Mr. Gibson will lead a team that will create a new market-neutral equity investment strategy that Lazard plans to launch in the second half of 2018. He will be based in New York and report to Loren Katzovitz, a managing director responsible for overseeing initiatives that expand the firm's global alternatives business.
Mr. Gibson was founder and managing partner at Assiduous Investments. The company will cease doing business, Ms. Yaffe said.
Lazard Asset Management had $249 billion in assets under management as of Dec. 31.
