Pennsylvania State Employees' Retirement System, Harrisburg, is seeking a third-party administrator for its $3.5 billion 457(b) plan and a new 401(a) plan.
The board could select more than one administrator, the RFP said.
The 401(a) plan is to be launched by Jan. 1, 2019. The contract for the current third-party administrator for the 457(b) plan, Empower Retirement, will expire June 30, 2018, said Pamela Hile, spokeswoman for the $29 billion PennSERS. Empower is invited to rebid.
The RFP is available on the state's procurement website. Proposals are due by April 16. Selections are expected to be made in June, Ms. Hile said.
