John Ball was named CEO of the Church of England Pensions Board, London, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Ball will replace Bernadette Kenny, who died in October; he starts July 1. Additional details about an acting CEO could not be learned.
"(Mr. Ball) brings with him a wealth of experience and a thorough understanding of the need and challenges faced by many of our key partners having worked as CEO for one of the church's largest and most diverse dioceses," said Jonathan Spencer, chairman of the Church of England Pensions Board, in a news release.
Mr. Ball is currently CEO and diocesan secretary for the Diocese of Chelmsford.
The Church of England Pensions Board has £2.3 billion ($3.2 billion) in assets.
