James Callahan was promoted to president of investment consultant Callan.
He assumes the role from Gregory Allen, who retained the title after his appointment as CEO and chief research officer on Sept. 1, said Elizabeth Anathan, a company spokeswoman.
Mr. Allen replaced Ronald D. Peyton as CEO; Mr. Peyton now serves as Callan's executive chairman.
"This is the final piece of the succession plan that we began enacting last September," said Mr. Allen in a news release, adding "now that I'm settled in as CEO, Ron and I are ready to make these important transitions."
Mr. Allen noted that Mr. Callahan is "tremendously qualified" for the role of president thanks to his experience serving on the company's management and client policy review committees.
Mr. Callahan joined Callan in 1993. He was executive vice president and head of Callan's fund sponsor consulting group and has been replaced by Millie Viqueira, who was promoted to executive vice president from senior vice president. Ms. Viqueira retains her current role as manager of Callan's Summit, N.J., consulting office, Ms. Anathan said. She joined Callan in 1991.
