Chopin Zhou was named director of business development and relationship management for China at MFS Investment Management in Shanghai.
The position is new at MFS Financial Management Consulting (Shanghai) Co., which MFS opened in August 2017 to serve the firm's existing clients on the mainland and field inquiries from interested parties.
Jonathan Tiu, Singapore-based senior managing director, Asia, said in a news release that Mr. Zhou will lead the firm's efforts to "strengthen our relationships with existing clients in China and build new ones — particularly among public institutions and insurance companies."
Mr. Zhou comes to MFS from Shanghai-based SWS MU Fund Management Co., where he served as deputy head of institutional and international business, according to the news release.
A spokesman for SWS MU Fund Management said Mr. Zhou isn't being replaced, as his role in the firm was eliminated following a recent reorganization.
