Bart Kuijpers was named managing director and head of fiduciary management at BMO Global Asset Management, said a spokeswoman.
Mr. Kuijpers' appointment follows a January announcement that Ernst Hagen, previously managing director and head of fiduciary management, would focus fully on serving strategic clients within the firm, and also taking on a number of independent board positions, she said.
Mr. Kuijpers begins in April and will lead the fiduciary management activities for the Netherlands, with a view to further growing that business. BMO has €22 billion ($27 billion) in fiduciary management assets under management globally, including €17 billion in the Netherlands.
His "international experience and extensive knowledge of the pension and insurance world is the ideal fit as we look to further grow the business," said Rogier van Harten, head of institutional distribution and client management of continental Europe at the firm, in a news release.
Mr. Kuijpers had worked at the International Pension Platform, an open pension execution platform he founded in 2014 via a joint venture with Swiss Re and Credit Swiss. Further information was not available.
