Damian Moloney will join AustralianSuper in April as head of investments (Europe), in line with plans to expand its investments in European markets.
The position is a new one at the A$130 billion ($100.2 billion) Melbourne-based superannuation fund, which oversees the retirement assets of 2.2 million members.
Mark Delaney, the fund's chief investment officer, said in a news release that Mr. Moloney will relocate to AustralianSuper's London office in early 2019 to oversee the continued development of the fund's offshore investment platform.
With roughly half of AustralianSuper's assets invested overseas, Mr. Delaney called having a local presence "very important," and said Mr. Moloney will provide needed leadership as the fund continues to grow.
Mr. Moloney joins AustralianSuper from Frontier Advisors, where he had served as CEO since 2011. A Frontier Advisors spokesman couldn't immediately be reached for comment.
