Alastair Leather was named U.K. institutional sales director at Investec Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Leather will advance the firm's relationships with global consultants and U.K. institutional investors, starting in April. He reports to Edward Evers, head of global consultants.
"Having spent 10 years at Goldman Sachs Asset Management in both the direct institutional client channel and the consultant channel, it is clear that (Mr. Leather) is a contemporary thinker who is both investment-focused and well known to consultants and clients alike," David Aird, managing director at Investec's U.K. client group, said in a news release.
Mr. Leather was most recently vice president of institutional sales at Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Details on his replacement were not available.
Investec has £104 billion ($145 billion) in assets under management.
