Ontario Municipal Employees' Retirement System, Toronto, invested C$100 million ($76 million) as a lead investor in the RBC Vision Women's Leadership MSCI Canada Index ETF, confirmed a spokesman at the C$95 billion pension plan.
The ETF, managed by RBC Global Asset Management, replicates the performance of the MSCI Canada IMI Women's Leadership Select index, a Canadian equity benchmark that focuses on companies that have at least 30% women on boards of directors or two female directors and one woman in an executive leadership role.
Both OMERS and RBC are signatories to the Canadian 30% Club Investor Group, which seeks greater gender equality in director and executive appointments, according to a news release from RBC.
RBC Global Asset Management has about C$425 billion in worldwide assets under management, according to the release.
