Standards Board for Alternative Investments has established a North American committee of alternative investment managers and institutional investors to direct the SBAI's efforts in the region, according to a news release.
Asset owners on the committee include Samantha Foster, investment officer at the University of Southern California's $5.1 billion endowment in Los Angeles; Russell Read, chief investment officer at the $62.8 billion Alaska Permanent Fund Corp., Juneau; and Scott Taylor, managing director at the C$337.1 billion ($262 billion) Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Toronto.
The committee will direct the SBAI's North American efforts to identify local issues for inclusion in the SBAI's studies and working groups, support the SBAI's North American roundtables, communicate with SBAI members and increase participation in the SBAI among North American alternative investment managers and institutional investors, the news release said.
The SBAI, formerly Hedge Fund Standards Board, was formed in January 2008 as the standard-setting body for the alternative investment industry.
Board spokeswoman Zarrina Shakir could not be immediately reached for additional comment.
