Marlene Debel, executive vice president at MetLife, was named head of the retirement and income solutions business, spokeswoman Judi Mahaney said in an email.
Ms. Debel replaces Robin Lenna, also an executive vice president, who retired from MetLife on March 1. Ms. Debel, who is also currently chief financial officer, will continue in that role until a successor is named.
The retirement and income solutions business, among other areas, handles the benefits of participants who were transferred to the company via group annuity contract purchases by corporate pension plans. Ms. Lenna's departure came on the heels of MetLife's Feb. 13 disclosure that it has not paid about 13,500 participants in its group annuity population over the past 25 years due to insufficient administrative practices.
