Thomas DeAngelis was named director of alternatives, global institutional management, at Putnam Investments, said Jon Goldstein, company spokesman.
It is a newly created position. He reports to Jeffrey L. Gould, co-head of global distribution, global institutional management. Mr. DeAngelis will represent the money manager's hedge fund capabilities for institutions, Mr. Goldstein said.
Mr. DeAngelis was previously managing director, global head of business development and investor relations at hedge fund manager Hutchin Hill Capital, which closed at the end of 2017.
Putnam Investments has about $177 billion in assets under management, $96 billion of which is institutional.
