James Blair was named head of fixed-income investment services, Asia-Pacific at Capital Group.
The Singapore-based position is new.
A Hong Kong-based spokeswoman for the firm said Mr. Blair will offer strategic advice on asset allocation to clients in the region, and be responsible for managing distribution of the full range of Capital Group's fixed-income capabilities.
Mr. Blair comes from UBS Asset Management in Sydney, where he served as a managing director, head of the firm's fixed-income specialist team, Asia-Pacific, and as a senior fixed-income strategist, according to a Capital Group news release.
A UBS spokeswoman couldn't immediately comment on plans to replace him.
