L3 Technologies Inc., New York, plans to contribute about $100 million to its pension plans, the company disclosed in a 10-K filing.
The company contributed $97 million each to the plans in 2017 and 2016.
As of Dec. 31, pension plan assets totaled $3.047 billion, while projected benefit obligations totaled $4.228 billion, for a funding ratio of 72.1%, down from 72.4% the year before. The discount rate for 2017 was 3.78%, down from 4.4% the previous year.
L3 has pension plans in both U.S. and Canada but the 10-K, filed Feb. 22, did not break down the plans' assets or contribution amounts by region. The asset allocation for the U.S. plans as of Dec. 31 was 47% domestic equities, 28% fixed income, 11% international equities, and 7% each real estate and cash and cash equivalents. The Canadian plans' asset allocation as of that same date was 47% international equities, 25% fixed income, 15% Canadian equities, and 13% cash and cash equivalents.
