American Electric Power Co. Inc., Columbus, Ohio, plans to contribute a total of $101 million to its defined benefit plans in 2018, the company disclosed in its 10-K filing on Friday.
The company contributed $98 million to its plans in 2017 and $91 million in 2016.
As of Dec. 31, DB plan assets totaled $5.174 billion, while projected benefit obligations totaled $5.216 billion, for a funding ratio of 99.2%, up from 94.9% the year before.
The discount rate for 2017 was 3.65%, down from 4.05% in 2016.
Also as of Dec. 31, the actual allocation for the DB plans was 57.8% fixed income, 25.2% equities, 8.6% alternative investments, 5.6% real estate, 1.2% infrastructure, 1.1% cash and cash equivalents, and 0.5% other.
