Justin Mallis was named principal and global head of project management in Pantheon Ventures' client service team, said a spokeswoman.
The position is new, and Mr. Mallis is based in London.
He is responsible for centralizing and coordinating fundraising for institutional strategies. The spokeswoman said institutional business accounts for the majority of Pantheon's $37.3 billion in assets under management.
He "brings valuable external experience from a similar role at a global placement agent, alongside deep experience from working at various U.S. pension consultants, specializing in alternatives," said Susan Long McAndrews, partner and head of the U.S. primary investment team, to whom Mr. Mallis reports.
Mr. Mallis was a principal, project management, at global placement agent First Avenue Partners. The spokeswoman said he was active in both credit and leveraged buyout fundraising, among other private market asset classes. Executives at First Avenue Partners could not be reached for comment by press time.
Pantheon also named Michael Hutten as principal to market its U.S. private wealth initiative. He is based in Raleigh, N.C.
