Texas Employees' Retirement System, Austin, committed or invested a total of $251 million to three alternative investment funds in January, a transaction report showed.
In real estate, the $28 billion fund committed $101 million to BPE Asia Real Estate Fund II. It committed $75 million in 2015 to the earlier fund in the manager's series.
The pension fund also committed $50 million to commercial real estate debt-focused fund Torchlight Debt Opportunity Fund VI. In 2015, the fund committed $35 million to the fourth fund in the series managed by Torchlight Investors.
Separately, ERS invested $100 million in Graham Absolute Return, a global macro hedge fund managed by Graham Capital Management, a new manager for the pension fund.
