Amit Mehta was named director and senior Asia analyst on Hermes Investment Management's emerging markets team, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Mehta provides research, analysis and generates models for a team that manages Asian stocks. He reports to Gary Greenberg, head of emerging markets.
"With his substantial expertise developed over decades of market analysis, (Mr. Mehta) has a detailed understanding of the companies operating in Asia and the key market drivers in the region," Mr. Greenberg said in a news release.
Mr. Mehta was previously a portfolio manager at Pacific Investment Management Co. A spokeswoman said Mr. Mehta left when PIMCO started closing its equity business in 2015. He was not replaced, she said.
Hermes Investment Management has £30.8 billion ($42.7 billion) in assets under management.
