Kristina Alimard was named interim CEO of University of Virginia Investment Management Co., and Sargent McGowan was named interim CIO, endowment spokeswoman Sonia Speh confirmed in an interview.
UVMCO named the interim officers in the wake of the Dec. 31 departure of Lawrence Kochard, chief investment officer and CEO.
Ms. Alimard currently is UVIMCO chief operating officer, and Mr. McGowan is a managing director.
UVIMCO is working with executive search firm Dore Partnership to find a permanent replacement for Mr. Kochard, who is now managing director and chief investment officer at Makena Capital Management.
The board has not made a decision on hiring one or two people.
UVIMCO manages the university's $8.62 billion endowment, which returned 12.4% for the fiscal year ended June 30.
