Miles O'Connor was named head of institutional for Europe, Middle East and Africa at State Street Global Advisors, a spokesman said.
The position is new. Mr. O'Connor is responsible for existing institutional client relationships and developing new business across the region.
He is based in London and reports to Cuan Coulter, executive vice president and head of EMEA, and Cyrus Taraporevala, president and CEO. SSGA has $2.6 trillion in assets under management.
Mr. O'Connor was previously chairman and non-executive director at Unigestion in the U.K. and worked as a consultant, the spokesman said. Prior to Unigestion, Mr. O'Connor was head of EMEA institutional at Schroders until leaving the firm in 2015.
