Carine Smith Ihenacho was named chief corporate governance officer at Norges Bank Investment Management, a spokesman said.
The role is new. Ms. Smith Ihenacho was previously global head of ownership strategies at the firm, which manages the assets of the 8.5 trillion Norwegian kroner ($1 trillion) sovereign wealth fund Government Pension Fund Global, Oslo. She maintains her responsibilities from the former role, the spokesman added.
"Our responsibility as (asset) owner and our work with corporate governance, sustainable business practices and well-functioning markets is extensive and important, and calls for a dedicated area of responsibility in the fund's leader group," Yngve Slyngstad, CEO at Norges Bank Investment Management, said in a news release.
