Patrick Thomson was named CEO of asset management Europe, Middle East and Africa at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, according to a memo obtained by Pensions & Investments.
Mr. Thomson, who is retaining his responsibilities as international head of institutional clients, takes on the role from Mike O'Brien, who is relocating to New York to focus on his other duties as co-head of asset management solutions.
The memo, by Chris Willcox, CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset Management, and George Gatch, CEO of global funds and institutional at the $1.6 trillion money management firm, said Mr. Thomson's appointment is subject to regulatory approval.
Mr. O'Brien will continue to act as CEO and oversee the region as Mr. Thomson's appointment is finalized and to ensure a seamless transition, said the memo.
A spokeswoman for J.P. Morgan Asset Management declined to comment.
