David Cumming was named chief investments officer, equities, at Aviva Investors said a spokeswoman.
The role is new and Mr. Cumming will join Jan. 2 in London. He will lead Aviva Investors' equity team globally, which manages assets of £69 billion ($92.3 billion) on behalf of Aviva and external clients.
"His arrival is a signal of our intent to invest in our equity business, which will strengthen our range of investment solution for Aviva and external clients," said Euan Munro, CEO at Aviva Investors, in a news release.
Mr. Cumming was head of equities at Standard Life Investments from 2010 to March 2017. The firm merged with Aberdeen Asset Management this year, creating Aberdeen Standard Investments. A spokeswoman confirmed that Devan Kaloo was named global head of equities under the merged company.
