Vinay Nadkarni was named head of global business development at ClearBridge Investments, spokeswoman Mary Athridge said.
The position is new, but includes responsibilities previously assumed by Lori McEvoy, managing director and head of institutional sales, who left the company to join Jennison Associates as global head of distribution.
Mr. Nadkarni will oversee ClearBridge's portfolio specialist, institutional sales, platform sales and consultant relations teams. He will continue to report to Terrence Murphy, ClearBridge CEO.
Mr. Nadkarni was managing director and head of portfolio specialists at ClearBridge. He will retain those responsibilities in his new position.
ClearBridge, a subsidiary of Legg Mason, had $131 billion in assets under management as of Sept. 30.
