Texas County & District Retirement System, Austin, committed $100 million to Carlyle Partners VII, a transaction report showed.
The private equity fund, managed by Carlyle Group, will seek buyout opportunities in North American companies in a variety of sectors including defense, media, consumer products, health-care products, telecommunications and transportation.
The $27.8 billion pension fund committed $75 million in 2012 to the predecessor fund in Carlyle's fund series and also has invested in Carlyle real estate and Asian private equity funds.
With the commitment, TCDRS has committed a total of $1.11 billion to 23 private equity and venture capital funds year-to-date through Nov. 29.
