Gwinnett County, Lawrenceville, Ga., is searching for a third-party administrator for the county's defined benefit and defined contribution plans, said Dana Garland, country purchasing associate, in an email.
The county has issued an RFP for a firm to provide "record-keeping/administration, communication, and benefit payor services for the administration and operation" of the $1 billion Gwinnett County Employees Retirement System, a defined benefit plan that has been closed since Jan. 1, 2007.
The county is also seeking a firm to provide "record-keeping/administration, communication/education, on-site education, investment advisory, investment management and custodial trustee services for the administration and operation of the county's two defined contribution retirement plans," according to the RFP. The plans, a 401(a) plan and 457 plan, have combined assets of $372 million.
Empower Retirement currently provides these services to all plans, the RFP said; whether the firm is invited to rebid could not be immediately learned. Ms. Garland would not provide further information.
The RFP can be obtained by emailing Ms. Garland. Proposals are due at 2:50 p.m. EST on Dec. 15. A timeline for a decision was not provided.
