Brian Collins on Friday was appointed executive director of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund, Oak Brook, effective Jan. 8.
Mr. Collins will replace Louis Kosiba, who will retire from the $39.8 billion pension fund.
Mr. Collins is chief financial officer for the city of Memphis, Tenn., and board chairman of the $2.4 billion Memphis City Retirement System.
In a news release on the city's website, Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said Doug McGowen, the city's chief operating officer, would handle CFO duties until a decision is made on Mr. Collins' successor.
Mr. Kosiba, who has been executive director at IMRF since July 2001, will retire on Dec. 31. Dan Duquette, deputy executive director, will be interim executive director for the time between Mr. Kosiba's departure and Mr. Collins' arrival, Mr. Duquette said.
