Lorenzo Garcia was named head of Europe, Middle East and Africa client investment solutions at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, said a spokeswoman.
The position is new. Mr. Garcia is based in London and reports to Jeff Knight, global head of investment solutions and co-head of global asset allocation, and Mark Burgess, deputy global chief investment officer.
"Clients are increasingly looking for their asset managers to deliver solutions that meet their specific needs and desired outcomes," said Mr. Burgess in a news release. Mr. Garcia's "appointment will further enhance and strengthen our client offering in this area."
Columbia Threadneedle has $473 billion in assets under management, with more than $130 billion invested in asset allocation strategies.
Mr. Garcia joined from BlackRock, where he was head of EMEA institutional and retail portfolio management, exchange-traded funds and index investment, said the release. A spokeswoman could not be reached for comment.
