Takudzwa Mutasa was named principal at Development Partners International, a spokeswoman said.
The position is new. Mr. Mutasa as a deal leader will look for new investments across the African continent and work with existing portfolio investments and partners starting in early 2018.
"(Mr. Mutasa's) skills and years of experience will add greatly to the team as we seek to identify attractive opportunities in our target markets across Africa," Runa Alam, CEO and co-founder of DPI, a private equity firm that invests across Africa with $1.1 billion in assets under management, said in a news release.
Mr. Mutasa was a principal at KKR, where he focused on African private equity transactions. A spokesman could not be reached by to comment about a replacement.
