Chi Kit Chai joined Hong Kong-based Ping An Overseas Holdings as head of capital markets and a member of the firm's executive committee.
In this new position, Mr. Chai is charged with building an investment platform for Ping An Overseas Holdings, the new global investment management unit of Chinese conglomerate Ping An Holdings, confirmed Mandy Fung, a company spokeswoman, in an email.
Mr. Chai was senior managing director of internal global public equity markets for the $146 billion Texas Teacher Retirement System, Austin, until he resigned in mid-July to return to Hong Kong, his hometown.
As part of the late-summer consolidation of TRS' internal and external public market portfolios, Dale West, formerly senior managing director of external global public markets, now oversees the combined portfolio.
