House Financial Services Chairman Jeb Hensarling, R-Texas, announced Tuesday he will not seek re-election in 2018.
Mr. Hensarling has chaired the committee for three terms since 2013, and would not have been able to serve a fourth term, under House rules. He used the committee to critique and oversee financial regulation, and was an outspoken critic of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
