House adopts Senate budget plan for tax reform

Congressional tax reform efforts took another step Thursday as the House voted to adopt a Senate budget resolution that allows for up to $1.5 trillion to added to the federal deficit.

Unlike a more detailed budget resolution moving through the House, the Senate version has broad strokes that set the stage for paying for tax cuts.

The House vote to adopt the Senate outline was narrowly approved, 216-212, with 20 Republicans opposing it.
