Malcolm Hunt was named head of portfolio solutions for bfinance's London team, confirmed a spokeswoman.
The position is new and forms part of a restructure at the consultant.
Mr. Hunt joins Oct. 30, and will oversee the newly created portfolio solutions group. He will take on services previously managed by bfinance's asset class strategists alongside the team of client consultants. These services will now be fully integrated on a cross-disciplinary basis and made accessible to a wider range of clients, said a news release. The areas overseen by the new group include monitoring, risk analytics, portfolio health checks and fee benchmarking and negotiation.
The spokeswoman said the changes to the structure are effective immediately, and no other roles are changing beyond the responsibilities and remits associated with the new group.
"Portfolio solutions has represented an increasingly large proportion of the firm's activities over recent years as sophisticated investors have sought support with a range of implementation issues, from fees and costs to risk exposures and manager monitoring," said David Vafai, CEO at bfinance, in the release. "Governance of the full implementation chain is an increasingly high priority in today's climate, and by creating a centralized portfolio solutions group we hope to improve the quality of the service we offer to our clients and open the door to new innovations leveraging the expertise and data across the firm."
Mr. Hunt was executive director and head of MSCI client services for Europe, Middle East and Africa. A spokesman was not available to comment by press time on a replacement.
