Houston Municipal Employees Pension System committed up to $20 million to NGP Natural Resources XII, said spokesman Peter Koops in an email.
The natural resources fund, managed by NGP Energy Capital Management, will focus on North American businesses involved in oil and natural gas production, midstream energy and oilfield services.
The $2.3 billion pension fund previously committed $25 million to predecessor fund NGP Natural Resources XI in 2014.
