Tobias Pross was named global head of distribution in addition to his role as head of Europe, Middle East and Africa at Allianz Global Investors, said a spokesman.
Mr. Pross will add the role to his responsibilities effective April 1 following the departure of George McKay, co-head of the firm, global head of distribution and global chief operating officer. At that point, Mr. McKay will take on a non-executive role as vice chairman, replacing Elizabeth Corley, who will continue as a senior adviser. The spokesman said there is no senior adviser currently.
The firm said Karen Prooth will start as global COO on Nov. 1. She has been global platform head for exchange-traded fund and index investments at BlackRock.
Mr. McKay joined AllianzGI in 2006, becoming global COO in 2012. In March 2016, he took on responsibility for global distribution and as co-head of the firm alongside Andreas Utermann, CEO and global chief investment officer.
AllianzGI has about €500 billion ($590.6 billion) in assets under management.
