Carlos Vilares was named head of insurance for the U.K. and Ireland at Natixis Global Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Mr. Vilares replaced Alex Wharton who joined Aviva Investors in March as U.K. client solution director.
Mr. Vilares, who joined the institutional business development team, is based in London and reports to Euan MacLaren, managing director and head of U.K. and Ireland institutional business.
"He will be a valuable addition to the team reflecting (Natixis') strategy to grow its footprint across the insurance industry developing innovative solutions and providing expertise," said Oliver Bilal, head of international sales and marketing, in a news release.
Mr. Vilares was a vice president within the financial institutions group at Pacific Investment Management Co., the news release said. A PIMCO spokeswoman declined to comment.
Natixis had $285 billion in insurance assets under management globally as of June 30.
