Zu Cowperthwaite was named senior director, emerging markets equity, at DePrince, Race & Zollo, said a spokeswoman for the money manager in an email.
Ms. Cowperthwaite replaced Regina Chi, who left DRZ for personal reasons and accepted a position at AGF Investments, the spokeswoman wrote. Ms. Chi is a vice president and portfolio manager at AGF, according to the firm's website.
Ms. Cowperthwaite started earlier this month and reports to Marc P. Miller, partner and portfolio manager, who leads the emerging markets team.
DePrince, Race & Zollo has $5.2 billion in assets under management.
Previously, Ms. Cowperthwaite was senior vice president at Harvard Management Co., where she focused on emerging markets equity. A spokeswoman for Harvard Management Co. could not immediately be reached for information on whether Ms. Cowperthwaite has been replaced.
Since taking over as CEO of Harvard Management Co. in December, Nirmal P. "Narv" Narvekar has undertaken a massive overhaul of the company, reorganizing — and massively reducing — its staff as part of a plan to change its investment strategy from a specialized or "silo" approach to a generalist investment model in which all members of the investment team take ownership of the entire portfolio.
