Pieter Furnee was named global head of responsible investing for Deutsche Asset Management's global client group.
The position is new and reflects Deutsche's strategic focus on environmental, social and governance and responsible investing, a news release said.
Mr. Furnee leads the firm's global client engagement with regard to responsible investing. He works closely with teams within the firm's investment platforms, and also works with Roelfien Kuijpers, head of responsible investing on the €711 billion ($848 billion) manager's executive committee.
"Deutsche AM has recognized the importance of responsible investing within its investment approach for many years," said a joint comment in the news release by Thorsten Michalik, head of global client group Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia, and Bob Kendall, head of Americas.
"We are proud to have been amongst the early signatories to the U.N.-supported Principles for Responsible Investment in 2008. It is important we build on this heritage and use our expertise to help clients who want support in this important investment area."
Mr. Furnee takes on the new responsibility in addition to his role as head of global client group Benelux.
