Vijay Rajguru was named co-chief investment officer at alternative fixed-income firm Alcentra, said a spokesman.
The position is new, and Mr. Rajguru starts Monday.
He reports to David Forbes-Nixon, chairman and CEO, and works alongside Paul Hatfield, current CIO and president.
Based in London, Mr. Rajguru oversees the $33 billion firm's global direct lending and loan businesses in Europe and the U.S. He has a particular focus on growing the U.S. direct lending and loans unit as part of Alcentra's growth plans in the U.S., and will spend a significant amount of time in the U.S. offices, said a news release. He also leads capital markets activities.
"He broadens and deepens the leadership team and brings significant experience as we look to expand our business in the U.S. direct lending and loans space," said Mr. Forbes-Nixon in the release.
Mr. Rajguru was a partner at GoldenTree Asset Management, where he was responsible for sourcing and originating loan, bond and structured credit investments, said the release. He was also responsible for restructuring stressed and distressed assets. GoldenTree spokesmen could not be reached for comment by press time.
