Heather Brilliant was named managing director, Americas at First State Investments, spokeswoman Melanie Blanco said.
She replaces James Twiss, who left the company this month after relocating to Australia earlier this year. His plans could not be learned.
Ms. Brilliant will be responsible for managing the business of Australia-based First State Investments in the Americas. This will involve further expanding the firm's market presence across the region and strengthening its institutional capabilities. She is based in New York and reports to CEO Mark Lazberger.
Ms. Brilliant was CEO of Morningstar Australasia. She was replaced by Jamie Wickham, Morningstar's head of products and client solutions, Asia-Pacific, confirmed company spokeswoman Godhuli Gupta.
First State Investments managed $168.3 billion in assets as of June 30.
