The National Treasury Management Agency hired four firms to provide sustainability and responsible investment services for the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, Dublin.
The NTMA is the controller and manager of the €8.5 billion ($10.1 billion) sovereign development fund.
The hires are new, with the procurement of these services reflecting the implementation of the ISIF's sustainability and responsible investment strategy, said a spokesman for NTMA in an email.
The hires are split into three contracts.
Oekom Research and ISS-Ethix Climate Solutions, formerly part of South Pole Group, in a joint venture, will provide portfolio analytics and reporting across the fund's global portfolio, said the spokesman. "Together they provide an integrated service combining the analysis of the ISIF's global portfolio's ESG quality and carbon risk/performance to include carbon footprinting," said the emailed comment.
Hermes Equity Ownership Services was hired for two contracts, for the provision of proxy-voting services and shareholder engagement services.
The final contract, for the provision of an environmental, social and governance framework, was awarded to ERM Environmental Resources Management Ireland. This entails assistance in deepening the integration of ESG into ISIF's Irish portfolio, with the development of tools for pre-investment and post-investment ESG assessment and monitoring.
NTMA launched a search in October.
