Chang Sun joined TPG on Monday as managing partner, China.
The position, which will find Mr. Sun splitting his time between offices in Beijing and Hong Kong, is a new one for TPG.
A news release said Mr. Sun comes to TPG from Black Soil Group, an impact investment firm he founded in 2015 and led as managing partner. TPG declined further comment on Black Soil Group and a spokesman for the firm couldn't be reached immediately.
Prior to founding Black Soil Group, Mr. Sun served as chairman, Asia-Pacific, with Warburg Pincus.
