Karen Ward was named chief market strategist for Europe and the U.K. at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, a spokeswoman said.
Ms. Ward is expected to start at the end of November, when she replaces Stephanie Flanders, who left JPMAM in June to lead a team of researchers at Bloomberg Economics.
Ms. Ward will lead a Europe-based team, which produces the J.P. Morgan's guide to the markets and provides insight into the economy and financial markets to investors across Europe and around the world.
"(Ms. Ward) brings a wealth of both private- and public-sector experience to her new role. Her work for the Bank of England and the Treasury has provided her with deep insights into the challenges of both Brexit and monetary policy normalization in Britain while her expertise in leading HSBC's European economics team should prove invaluable to our clients in assessing prospects for European financial markets and investment opportunities," said David Kelly, chief global strategist, in a news release.
Ms. Ward advises on macroeconomic issues including fiscal strategy and Brexit in her current role as chairwoman of the Council of Economic Advisers for the chancellor of the exchequer, the U.K. chief financial minister.
